The Top Twenty Five Competition :
The entry for this event is limited to the nationally ranked Top Twenty Five dogs/bitches in the U.S. and is based on a point system whereby each dog/bitch is scored with regard to overall conformation (structure) and correct movement as it relates to the written GSP "standard" for the breed. The standard is a written guideline that dictates what makes a German Shorthaired Pointer the dog that it should be. This standard is approved by every Breed Parent Club for dogs of every breed and is approved by the American Kennel Club.
Each dog/bitch is evaluated by the three different judges
independently and scores are tallied
by the co-coordinator of the event. After scores are totaled, the dog with the highest overall score is deemed the "Winner". The winner of the event is them announced at the GSPCA Annual Awards dinner on the following night after the competition.
This award is highly prized and valued, especially when the owner is also the breeder of the dog/bitch.
"Monroe" was beautifully and expertly presented as always in competitions by her handler and "buddy", Gwen DeMilta, AKC Reg.
And, once again she was presented with an Award Of Merit in National Specialty Best Of Breed competition by AKC breeder-judge Kenneth Clemons.
